About the Role

Our client are a VIC state government agency based in the Melbourne CBD. They are currently seeking a Financial Planning Officer to come in and join their team on a 6 month temp contract with potential for extension.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
  • Previous experience working as a Financial Planner or similar
  • Strong financial modelling experience
  • Proficiency with Technology One System, and Microsoft Excel (Desirable)
  • Strong Forecasting, budgeting, and business analysis skills

Key responsibilities:

  • Financial Modelling & Analysis: Deliver accurate budgets and forecasts with a specialized focus on employee data costing, payroll analysis, and high-integrity financial modeling.

  • Systems & Automation Expertise: Drive efficiency by serving as a subject matter expert in TechnologyOne, Excel, and Copilot, leveraging multiple automation types to streamline workflows.

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Apply lateral thinking and problem-solving to optimize data cleansing, structural system setups, and overall reporting efficiencies.

  • Governance & Documentation: Ensure all new finance processes remain compliant with policy by authoring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and formalizing business process documentation.

  • Strategic Reporting Support: Partner with the FP&A Manager to prepare high-level presentations, correspondence, and reports that contribute to organizational business planning.

  • Change Management & Training: Lead the adoption of new finance systems through knowledge-sharing workshops and active support of team-wide change management activities.

  • Professional & Ethical Advocacy: Model values and integrity while representing the regulator to the community to build awareness of environmental laws and human health protections.

About You

You will be an experienced Financial Planner with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
  • Previous experience working as a Financial Planner or similar
  • Strong financial modelling experience
  • Proficiency with Technology One System, and Microsoft Excel (Desirable)
  • Strong Forecasting, budgeting, and business analysis skills
